The fifth track on the 'Forgotten Songs Vol. 1' EP. An early song written very early on in her writing journey.

Lyrics

Forest soldier, made of stone.
Light a fire, find his home.
‘Coz in our days of passing judgement,
We found new ways to criticise.
A million ways we’re separated,
Like a child lost in the night.

Uninvited to his past.
The party’s over, life comes fast.
But he’s been gone for too long,
He found new ways to write a song in the grass.

And he’s been sleeping there.
Like a child he found new ways to wear his hair.

And he’s been sleeping in the grass,
Like a soldier in the past,
Oh like a child, like a child, like a child.

Isolated through his life.
He bears the brunt of sacrifice.
But he’s been gone for too long,
He found new ways to write a song in the grass.

And he’s been sleeping there.
Like a child he found new ways to wear his hair.
And he’s been sleeping in the grass,
Like a soldier in the past,
Oh like a child, like a child, like a child!

And he won’t live in patience, and he won’t live in fear,
In spite of all the happenings, of which we never hear.
He burnt the path he rode on and things along the way,
And now he lives in exile until his judgement day.

Forest soldier caught in rain.
He lost the fire, he lost the flame.
But he’s been gone for too long,
He found new ways to write a song in the grass.
